Sunshine Employee Takes: Ibis Hakka & Ibis Exie

Sam takes on Ibis Exie USA & Ibis Hakka

Ibis Exie USA:

I came to the world of mountain biking with an endurance background in running, and the Exie is the perfect two-wheeled fun machine for me. As a modern cross-country bike, it’s designed for rough, technical world-cup race courses and long, grueling marathon adventures. I love this bike because of its remarkable range: I never feel overbiked during long days on fire roads, but it remains surprisingly confidence-inspiring in spicier terrain. It’s lightweight, with 100mm of rear suspension and a 120mm fork, and keeps things nimble yet stable with modern geometry and Ibis’s incredibly efficient suspension platform. The perfect full-suspension XC bike for racing, long days, and getting in over its head.

Ibis Hakka:

I love the Ibis Hakka because it’s versatile and super fun to ride. This bike is FAST, with one of the lightest gravel frames on the market, ample tire clearance, and a well balanced geometry. I have mine set up in a more road-oriented ‘gravel’ build, with 700c x 38mm fast rolling knobby tires. One of my favorite rides is to take the pavement from Fairfax, down to the Golden Gate Bridge, then hop on the dirt roads around the Marin Headlands. If you want a more chunky-dirt-worthy Hakka, you can build it with 650b wheels and mountain bike tires. Dropper post compatible, you can drop your heels and get extra sendy.
